WHY video content marketing is a unique opportunity: tackle the 3 main challenges

Everyone wants to do video, which is practically the only way these days to get on the front page of Google search results.  But very few companies do it because of 3 reasons: it’s expensive, difficult to figure out, and a pain to execute.

First, let’s talk about the expense.  You wake up one day and you say: I want to do more video for my business.  Great! Now you have to find a videographer, book a studio, pay for equipment rentals… and on the day of the shoot, you waste more than half your time staring at the videographer and their crew – which you pay for, of course – set up and dismantle the equipment: camera, lights, sound… they all take a lot of time to figure out.  And god forbid something goes wrong – the whole day is ruined and you may have to pay all over to go back and re-shoot!

It will cost you thousands of dollars for something like this.  And from my experience, the first go-round you won’t be ready, you’ll make mistakes, things won’t look the way you want them to… so you’ll HAVE to redo much of it.

But for video content marketing to be effective, you have to put out 1 video that’s 5-10 minutes long every week.  And there’s no way you can afford that or get a decent ROI with that setup. So video is way too expensive for content marketing.  Which is why many companies either invest heavily in an in-house team, or they try home-style videos that damage their branding, or they just give up after a few failed attempts.

Now let’s talk about the 2nd reason why your competitors don’t use video: video content marketing is difficult to figure out.  What content should you cover in your videos? How are you going to come up with 50 ideas every year? How are people going to come and watch your videos?

Yes, video is difficult to figure out because it’s a completely different animal than anything else you’ve done in marketing.  OR is it? First, look at your blog analytics, find which posts get the most traction, and convert those into video.  Then, look at your competitors’ blog posts and see which ones get the most backlinks. And finally, do an in-depth SEO keyword analysis and “borrow” content from the top-ranking sites for the most competitive keywords that will give you the most traffic.  We’ll include a couple of cool tips on finding the right content at the end of this video.

And finally, the 3rd reason making video content marketing a white-space opportunity is that it’s a PAIN to execute.  Who wants to type up a script every week, set up lights and camera, and take time from their busy schedule? And then the editing…. It WILL take time… it WILL feel like hard work.
