How to Produce your Video Content - Video Content Marketing 101

In the first video of this series we talked about the 5 steps - Planning, Preparation, Production, Optimization, Promotion - you need to follow when you start with Video Content Marketing.

Now let’s move on to Step 3 - “Production”. Here you want to make sure you have the right setup that will deliver quality picture and sound.  The worst thing is to have great content, but the delivery suffers.  Because this can make your content un-watchable.

If you’re producing your content from your home or office, maybe you want to look into a backdrop so that it looks more polished and professional.  Get a USB lav mic so your sound quality is great.  And perhaps buy a ring light so you don’t have any dark areas.

There are so many things to pay attention to in order to have good production value.  But don’t let that stop you.  Even if quality isn’t great, the key is to get started.  And you can always keep improving.  So don’t waste thousands of dollars on top-of-the-line equipment.  That won’t make a big difference.  A webcam or even a smartphone will do the job.  As long as you can shoot 1080p, you’re good to go.

A more important hurdle sometimes is how you deliver the actual content in front of the camera… what happens once you say “action”.  Some people are super charismatic, and those are the ones you see with thousands and thousands of subscribers and views.  And others are NOT.  No matter how great their content is or how insightful they are, their audience just can’t tune in.  The solution there is to either rely more on slides, or just rely on an actor to deliver your content.
